Sharon this one's for you!!!

I added potatoes and carrots so it wouldn't look so lonely! This roasting pan is HUGE!

A Lize Day!

Today Danika and her best friend Lize were together for 13 hours straight! They started preschool at 8:30am this morning, Caroline picked Danika up for me after school and Danika went to the farm. The girls played outside all afternoon in a cardboard 'house' and were picking flowers for it and everything, sounds like they had lots of fun. Then after the babies naps they came over and Caroline, Adessa, Kailey and I had a visit after the 2 big girls went to Meagan's (Danika's babysitter) house for a tea party. They went over there at 4:30 and at 5:30 we get called to see if Meagan can take the girls to the candy store and then walk to the park! Today was the first day it felt like Spring in awhile so we said sure! (realizing it was close to supper!) So after an hour, 2 happy little girls came bursting through the door with a bag full of candy, pet shop animals and beautiful bracelets. They had a tea party and made rice krispie squares, played little pet shops then went for a walk to the ocean, the candy store and the park before coming home. Once they came home we had a big steak dinner with the Nagtegaals and then the kids played until 9:30 (as the dads were watching the hockey game!)
It was a wonderful day and we are so blessed to live in a beautiful little community with such wonderful friends! I'm betting my big girl will have a well deserved sleep-in tomorrow morning!

Frustrations

In reality I have nothing to complain about...but sometimes it feels good just to rant, and to look back and see what these years were really like! I have been struggling with keeping a happy attitude in dealing with my youngest. We have had a low key week with not a lot planned so maybe that is some of the problem. But she has been driving me bonkers! I know comparing is awful and I am a firm believer in never comparing in front of siblings, however Adessa is 100% opposite to what Danika was at her age, and I know I have said this before! She wakes up early and never ever cuddles in bed with us. She constantly wants to eat, yelling "Ungry!" or "Nack!" or "Cracker!" at my feet. Even if we have just eaten. I am finding it difficult to offer 'healthy snacks' as sometimes it is easiest to just fill a bowl with crackers! She eats everything still... still munches on the chalk, fills her cheeks with my potting soil and chews on the wood chips in it! I so thought that was last summer, but it has carried over and it makes me nervous. A few weeks ago she picked up dog poo (thankfully I caught her in time!) and I just don't know what to do! The weather is warmer and I want to be able to go outside and get some stuff done, but I constantly have to keep my eyes on her! A few times this week as well she has protested her afternoon naps! I am so not ready to give them up yet!
But on the other hand, she lives life to the fullest! She loves to run and is practicing her jumping. She goes hard on slides and loves falling over. I definatley think she will be my little dare devil and enjoy all the big scary rides! She also loves her "keeko or cocoa" (aka Meeko!) and laughs when he does anything and likes to sit on his back when he is lying down and cuddle him. She also gives the best hugs and kisses...when you can get them from her! She is also VERY friendly. She yells "HI!" to everyone who passes and always has a smile for them!
So even while I am having a tough time with this stage in Adessa's life, I am so thankful for who she is and I know we will grow out of these stages eventually... we just hope sooner than later!

I wrote this post last night, and forgot to publish it, but I have even more to add to this fun list! Meeko... he is shedding his puppy coat and there is dog hair EVERYWHERE! Now thankfully our floors match his fur color, but when you really look, there is a fine layer over the floor and furballs under every piece of furniture! He is also digging up my backyard... chewing on my rose bushes and raspberry stocks!
Oh and I took Adessa for a walk today and she cried half of the time and then when we got to the dog park and I let her out of the stroller she picked up dog poo again!!!! Oh what do I do?!?

We had a busy weekend...

Saturday night Steves sister Leah and her boyfriend came over as they were in Abbotsford. They arrived at 10:30pm and left at 7am the next morning! It was a quick visit... but we sooo appreciated them taking the time to come see us, even if it was quick!
Sunday morning after waking up early I had to teach Sunday school, then took Danika to a birthday party for a boy from her preschool class. It was pretty awesome. They had the largest bouncy castle I have ever seen set up! It had a climbing wall inside to a HUGE slide. Not only did the kids have fun, but so did us moms! Danika played on that for 2 hours and then had a playdate with Lize. By the time we got home she sat on the couch with my new duster(which is AWESOME!), and when I came back in to tell her it was time for supper, this was how I found her...

The picture she drew for Auntie Leah. Look closely at the eye, I thought it was closed, but it is actually a happy face! : )

My New Sewing Table!

I have been keeping my eye open for a little desk to put my sewing machine on. Sharon, my wonderful friend ended up giving me one they had in storage... it was perfect! I have always wanted to try refinishing a piece of furniture and this was perfect! It took awhile, but after 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of white paint and some new hardware (installed by my wonderful hubby!) ... Voila! She is complete! The perfect little table for my many sewing projects I hope to complete! Here's to hoping!

I am so happy with how it turned out!

Meeting Chicks

The Nagtegaals got some new little animals for their farm.. some chicks! Lize informed me that not only are they dairy farmers, but are now hobby farmers as well! Too cute!
When Caroline opened up the pen and grabbed a chick all the kids crowded her to want to hold one. Caroline gave a chick to Adessa so I could take a picture... NOT a good idea!!! Adessa had death grip on the poor chick, right around it's neck!

Adessa wrecking the little chick houses Danika and Lize are making!

Caroline trying to pry Adessa's hand off the poor chick... I felt HORRIBLE! After playing in the sand pile, there was sand found EVERYWHERE.. but it was worth it!

A Night Away

Last night our wonderful friends the Burdge's let us use their timeshare to a wonderful hotel in Victoria right on the harbour. It was such a nice getaway. We started the trip yesterday by going to Beacon Hill Park to the petting zoo. We had lots of fun playing with the goats and chasing ducks. Then the girls played at the awesome park. It was such a beautiful day! While we were at the park we got a phone call from the movie store in Crofton saying they thought our dog was on the front lawn (great thing about living in small towns... everyone recognizes everyone!) Meeko apparently dug a hole in the backyard and escaped and didn't have his collar on, so thankfully we had friends go pick him up! It could have been so much worse!

When got to our hotel the girls had a blast running around and jumping on beds! We BBQ'ed some yummy food (on a bbq that blew Steves mind!) then pulled out the junk food to watch Tangled! Adessa is definitaley not your average child, she does not watch TV and last night was no exception. I even pulled out some yummy treats and still she was running around and jumping on us! She is so full of life and it takes a lot to slow her down!

In the morning we were planning some more fun things, but Steve woke up sick, so we packed up and headed home after a quick pit stop at Costco, of course... Steve was such a trooper, he curled up in the middle of the van and slept, what a man!

Adessa chasing away all the duckies... she loved it!

Danika dragging Adessa across the bridge... she would not stand! I love this photo.. it was so gorgeous! Peacocks were EVERYWHERE! Aren't they beautiful?!

Petting the cute little goats, Adessa was pretty timid in here...I'm thinking of getting a few for our house! ; )

Adessa's view from the room, she loved watching the float planes take off
The View
My wonderful hubby BBQing some pork and pineapple... it was delicious!
It was so nice doing a trip with just the four of us... we had a lot of fun! Danika and I all cozy on her bed watching Tangled
In the morning Adessa helped herself to a yogurt, she is getting so big... almost 20 months!
Danika on her murphy bed, we each had our own room
Big sister and little sister... hopefully best friends one day!
The goats running to their beds!
