Meeting Max

This weekend was a different one for me as I took off solo to Calgary to meet my little nephew, Max. Even though it was a mentally planned "break" for me, I will probably go back home just as exhausted, but a different kind of tired. One of shopping my feet off with my mommy and sister and staying up late (while my mom sleeps on the couch!) to watch movies.
I have been missing my girls and hubby so much, but know they are in good hands and making their own memories with their grandpa Tom. And I feel comfortable knowing Tom is there to make sure they all eat their fruits and veggies!!! And from what I hear lots of Danika's favorite foods... steak and brunch (aka-shrimp!) I have been talking to the girls twice a day, and they both seem to be doing so well. I am sooooo thankful to be married to such a wonderful man, who lets me take off for the weekend, do some shopping and on top of that watch the girls the whole time! He is absolutely so good to me, and I am so blessed to have him!
I have had some wonderful time with my sister and just cuddling precious little Max, he is such a doll and I love him so much already. My sister is such a wonderful mommy to both her kids and I am sad to live so far away as I will miss little Max growing up and my Ella Bella.
It was so nice to visit with both my grandmas and my aunt Deb this weekend. I didn't visit any girlfriends, but I came to spend time with my mom, sister, niece and new nephew! And I am so thankful I did!

Today was a busy, but fun day. Last night Danika had a sleepover with her best friend Lize and apparently they did not fall asleep until after 10 and woke up at 6am. After I was telling Lize's mom that Danika slept in until 8!! ooops. We met up with them at church and really enjoyed the service. After church we went home and tried to put the girls down for a nap, Adessa eventually gave in and we had to wake her up to go to our next event. A buddy's 4th birthday... which we completely missed! So we stopped in for a nice visit, and to say Happy Birthday! We then headed out to our friends home at Camp Imadene, which is a nice, long drive from our home.
We had a wonderful time, as we always do. They are such laid back, fun people to be with. We ate yummy food, had some good laughs and giggled as our children played x-box kinect together. Even though it is a long drive out to the camp, it is always worth it! : ) And as we got home and tucked the girls into bed, Meeko also decided it was bed time... in the girls tent!

New Nephew!!

Last night my sister had her baby, finally!

The named him Max Jeremy Jones, he was born last night at 9:50 pm weighing in at a perfect 8 lbs, 10 oz and 20.5 inches. We are soo excited for them.

I get to go meet him in a week from today, with no children as Steve's dad is flying out to hang out with Steve and the girls! So exciting... I can't wait!

A Good Day

I wasn't sure which way this day was going to go after waking up to Adessa being covered in puke, including all blankets and teddy bears. We have many friends who are fighting the flu right now, so I figure it is inevitable we will catch this bug as well. However after Adessa woke up, she had a healthy appetite and played hard for a couple of hours before grabbing her blankie and heading to her room saying 'nigh-nigh.' She slept for 2 hours! In which I was able to get a lot of organizing done. After a nice 'flu-friendly' lunch of soup and crackers I was able to skype my brother in law and 'meet' my nephew. He is soooo darling! I can't wait to meet him in a week! (when I fly kid less back to Calgary to get in some quality time!)
After this I packed up the kids and dog in the van and we headed up behind Crofton to do the Crofton lake hike. It was so beautiful and sunny today we had a wonderful time. The walk takes about a half hour up and the lake up there is so beautiful and peaceful and Meeko loves playing at the waters edge. We also saw 4 bald eagles perched up on the trees, and I so wished I had brought my camera. Once we got back to the van to load up I let the girls play in the GIANT mud puddle, which I knew would end badly, but thought I wouldn't care. As soon as I turned around Adessa had plunked herself in the middle of the puddle, just sitting there splashing with her hands! As you can guess she got covered, but loved every minute. And I figured I mine as well let them enjoy themselves while they were covered! We had lots of fun.
We came home and enjoyed some homemade bread from the bread maker with another big bowl of soup. Danika prayed for dinner and this is how it went,"Dear God, Indeed you are good, thank you for daddy, mommy, me and adessa, thank you for being good, i love you. Amen." (Steve and I both looked at each other and said, blog!)
As I am writing this Steve is playing 'animal hunt' with the girls. All the lights are turned off, they each have a flashlight and need to find the hidden animals throughout the house. It sure is a hit!
And know it is bed time for the little monkeys. Good night!

Dessert

Last night we went to some friends home for dessert. Steve has worked with the guy before and there may be an opportunity for Steve to get back in construction working for him again. We have gotten together with this couple one time before and they really are wonderful! They have 4 children (ages 2-6) and just found out they are expecting their fifth! And they are only in their early thirties. Everyone is so calm in their house and so nice. Their children are very well behaved and the kids all played so nice together. It was quite cute to see because Danika and their 5 year old boy were chasing one another around, holding hands and giggling. And Adessa planted one very juicy kiss on their youngest sons lips!! They have one little girl and she is totally a princess, and her and Danika got along so well! After spending the evening with them, I felt like I could have more kids and would love to have a big family. But I could also very well just be done with my 2 beautiful little girls!! We'll see...

Late night caller

The other night at about 10:30pm the phone rang. It was the first time we have been in bed before 11:00 in a long time and so we were shocked thinking, "who would be calling at such a late hour!"

Steve anwsered and it was the cop who Steve took to check out the 'hand.' He told us it wasn't a human appendage, but they still have not found out what it was from, most likely a seal paw or something like that. Steve apologized and said originally he wasn't going to call because at first he thought it was a paw as well, but upon his wife and friends urging him to call the cops, he did. The cop fully re-assured him that he did the right thing, that even the cops thought it was a human appendage, they had the dogs out to sniff out the scene and the forensic team out as well. So he shouldn't feel 'like an idiot!'
